How to Prevent “Pulling the Plug”: Applying the Psychology of Re-Victimization to Increase Success in the Criminal Case

Sheri Vanino, PsyD, is a clinical psychologist and co-founder of the Victim Justice Initiative, a private law firm providing progressive legal and psychological advocacy to victims of violence. Dr. Vanino completed her Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Pepperdine University, as well as a Master’s Degree and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Denver. Dr. Vanino was the Clinical Director for RAAP, Colorado’s largest rape crisis center and has also worked as an advocate for the District Attorney’s Office. She trains nationally on victim’s rights, sexual assault and trauma and teaches trauma as adjunct professor in two different graduate programs for the University of Denver.
