U visa Collaboration:
Creating a Comprehensive System of Law Enforcement, Attorneys, Advocates, and Survivors

Kavitha Sreeharsha, J.D.
Friday, May 30 at 10:15 am

The release of regulations on the U-visa, available to victims of criminal activity, creates a unique path to lawful status for immigrant survivors. The requirement that U-visa applicants are “helpful” to law enforcement agencies requires a partnership between advocates, attorneys, and law enforcement that may not have previously existed. This workshop is a strategy session to assist advocates in developing local collaborative mechanisms to assist those who may be U-visa eligible. The workshop will first outline U-visa eligibility and the need for this mechanism. The second part of the workshop will be a strategic discussion on tools to help develop the collaboration.
