Panel Presentation: Hot Topics at the State and National Level Affecting Victims of Sexual Violence
Friday (5/18) at 12:30 pm

Lyn Schollett is General Counsel to the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault, a statewide network of 34 rape crisis centers. In that position she provides legal advice to individual centers, trains allies including prosecutors and law enforcement officers, and participates in the development of statewide policy on a wide range of issues affecting rape victims, including confidentiality, health care and criminal and civil procedure. Lyn co-authored the ICASA booklet “A Guide to Civil Lawsuits: Practical Considerations for Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse and Rape.”

Lyn is a 1989 graduate of the Interdisciplinary Studies Program at Miami University. In law school at Northwestern University School of Law, she was selected to work on the Rolando Cruz death penalty case and contributed to an amicus brief before the U.S. Supreme Court in the seminal abortion-rights case, Planned Parenthood v. Casey. Lyn clerked for the Honorable Harold A. Baker in the Central District of Illinois before joining Sachnoff & Weaver as a commercial litigator.

In addition to her anti-violence work, Lyn serves on the board of directors for Planned Parenthood Federation of America. In 2000, Lyn was named one of “40 Under 40,” an accolade given to forty outstanding young lawyers in Illinois. In 2002 Lyn was one of two lawyers nationally recognized by the National Crime Victim Law Institute for “Outstanding Legal Achievement to Victims of Crime.”
