Responding to Stalking Victims

Sandy Bromley, J.D.
Friday, May 30 at 1:30 pm

This workshop will address many advanced issues that advocates and attorneys face when working with stalking victims. Responding to Stalking Victims will cover the varied legal issues facing stalking victims, such as the actual or perceived limitation of state and federal statutes, the dearth of case law regarding criminal and civil stalking cases, and the often limited experience that law enforcement, prosecutors, judges and probation services have in working on stalking cases. The workshop will also address several emerging trends, including: the use of technology to stalk; the connections between stalking and other crimes, such as sexual assault; stalking and underserved populations, such as victims with disabilities; and analyzing the media’s or community’s response to stalking cases.
