with Chris Aamodt & Keli Luther
Saturday, May 31 at 3:15 pm

Katie Resendiz serves as the Human Trafficking Training Coordinator for Arizona League to End Regional Trafficking (ALERT). ALERT is a project based out of the International Rescue Committee’s Phoenix resettlement office. This project works to provide services for victims, raise awareness of trafficking issues in the community, and support local anti-trafficking efforts. As training coordinator, Ms Resendiz provides anti-trafficking information in lectures and workshops throughout Arizona. These workshops range in topic from basic introduction to the crisis of trafficking to protocol development for working with victims. Ms Resendiz has focused her academic and professional life on education as a tool for peacebuilding. She has designed curricula and conducted workshops on a variety of conflict zone and public health issues. Ms Resendiz received her MA in Conflict transformation from Eastern Mennonite University in 2005. She currently lives in Phoenix, Arizona, where after years as a middle school teacher, she has recently returned to the NGO world and turned her efforts to the problem of modern-day slavery.
