After September 11th, our country turned its attention towards a mental condition that has afflicted more than 20 million Americans: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Over half of the population that suffers from PTSD are women. Until recently, very little training attention has been given to PTSD. Now, however, there is an increased focus on PTSD and the impact that PTSD has on abused/raped women. Our nation is turning its attention toward this debilitating mental condition in educational formats. Society expects human service providers to possess a basic knowledge and expertise regarding PTSD. Many women with PTSD are clients within litigation situations. This workshop is designed to give the service provider communication skills in dealing effectively with clients that emit symptoms of PTSD.
